LATEST UPDATE (1/27/17): Spooner grooming is now expected to take place Sat afternoon or evening. We are hoping that the trails will be ready Sunday morning.
It has been difficult pulling everything together over th last couple of weeks. Our groomer, Matt Saele from Sierra Snocats, had to make a trip out of town unexpectedly. He hopes to be back tomorrow. Because of the high lake and water levels, we cannot use a substitute CAT operator, who has not previously groomed Spooner. Even though Matt is slammed with work this season, he recognizes our efforts as a non-profit and has worked with us to stay within our budget. We are very thankful for him!
UPDATE as of 1/25/17: Please note grooming at Spooner has been delayed until Friday, 1/27. Earlier we reported that it would take place today, Jan 25. Also, please note that the carpark has not be cleared yet. Please take the proper precautions depending on your vehicle.
Here is the update that you have been waiting for!
We are getting ready to start grooming at Spooner Lake Nevada State Park again AND at the Incline Village Championship Golf Course. Please see below for details:
SPOONER: We will be grooming a community trail at Spooner State Park again this winter. We raised enough funds to pay for a CAT to groom and grade five to eight kilometers after heavy storms. If all goes as planned, Matt Saele of Sierra Snowcats, will groom on Friday (1/27).
INCLINE VILLAGE CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE: We have applied for an event permit, which will allow us to groom a 2.4 km loop on the course between Fairway and Hwy 28. The course will be separate from the snowshoe trail. We hope to groom soon, but have a few administrative and equipment maintenance tasks to complete first.
We will continue to keep you updated.
